Silk Cotton Sarees

Silk cotton blends the sheen of silk with the breathability of cotton, and for most Sri Lankan occasions it is the more practical of the two. Our silk cotton sarees run from LKR 2,500 to LKR 2,990, each with a matching blouse piece.

When to wear it

This is the fabric for weddings, almsgivings, homecomings and office functions – anywhere you want the saree to look formal without the weight and upkeep of pure silk. It holds a crisp pleat, carries printed and woven designs cleanly, and photographs well because the sheen is soft rather than reflective.

Fabric notes

The cotton content means it sits comfortably through a long function in warm weather, while the silk content gives it enough body to hold its shape rather than collapsing. It creases less than pure cotton and needs less careful handling than pure silk.

Care

Dry clean recommended for the first wash to set the colours. After that, gentle hand wash in cold water is fine. Dry in shade and press on medium heat.
